Transcend Launches New mSATA and Half-slim SATA SSDs Designed for Industrial and Embedded Applications

Transcend today announced the addition of the MSA740 and MSA630 mSATA, and the HSD630 half-slim SATA solid state drives (SSD) to its industrial product line. The new small form factor SSDs offer Transcend's industry-proven SSD durability, power savings and reliability, while at the same time delivering new levels of performance to mobile computing devices such as notebooks, tablet PCs, and other embedded storage applications.

Transcend's MSA740 mSATA SSD combines the next-generation SATA III 6Gb/s interface, DDR3 DRAM cache, and a powerful controller to attain sequential read and write speeds of up to 520 and 270 MB/s respectively, in addition to 4k random read/write speeds of up to 70,000 IOPS. This incredible performance helps significantly improve boot up and data transfer times, application launch speed, and overall system responsiveness. Despite measuring just 29.85 x 50.8 x 4 mm, the MSA740 comes equipped with advanced features including S.M.A.R.T., TRIM and NCQ support, dynamic power management, built-in ECC and wear leveling, intelligent block management, and excellent shock resistance, providing exceptional reliability and data protection.

Fully compatible with the SATA II 3Gb/s standard and boasting 64MB DRAM cache, the MSA630 mSATA and HSD630 half-slim SATA SSDs support sequential read and write speeds up to 260 and 80 MB/s respectively. Ideal for embedded applications with strict space constraints, the small footprint MSA630 and HSD630 are designed to provide the same balanced features and performance as 2.5" form factor hard disk drives in a fraction of the size. They include key reliability features such as built-in ECC and wear leveling, intelligent block management, built-in Advanced Power Shield technology, advanced garbage collection, and support for enhanced S.M.A.R.T. commands.

Both the MSA740 and MSA630 mSATA SSDs support Intel Smart Response Technology (ISRT), which allows users to configure their computer system with an SSD used as cache memory between the hard disk drive and system memory. ISRT works by monitoring which programs and files are accessed most frequently and stores them on the SSD. This provides the advantage of having a hard disk drive for maximum storage capacity while delivering an SSD-like overall system performance experience.

All SSD models support an operating temperature range from 0° to 70° C, to deliver reliable performance even in the most rugged industrial environments. Transcend's SATA III 6Gb/s MSA740 mSATA SSDs are offered in 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB capacities, while the SATA II 3Gb/s MSA630 and HSD630 SSDs are available in 32GB and 64GB capacities.
