Seagate new 500GB USB3.0 Slim external storage.

Seagate Technology today introduced the availability of a new portable drive to the company’s external storage line up, Seagate Slim. This new 500GB Slim drive features a superspeed USB3 interface, which is also compatible with legacy USB2.0 to deliver optimum data transfer speeds.

At a depth of only 9.6 mm, the Seagate Slim drive is just slightly larger than an iPhone 5 and can easily slip into a jean pocket or even a front shirt pocket. The aluminum top case in both brushed aluminum and black lends the drive a premium look while being very affordable. It’s the perfect storage companion for those that backup on the road or students that want to keep a minimalist theme for their school tech gear.

This new offering also includes the same easy to use backup software that has made Seagate Backup Plus so popular. The Seagate Dashboard software provides an easy one-click backup solution but can also be set as a scheduled backup up as needed. Additionally, the Dashboard software will back up Facebook and Flickr albums to ensure that even video and photos shared through these networks are backed up and easy to find.
